Humberside

Humberside, former county, NE England. Created in the 1974 local government reorganization, the county was dissolved in 1996 and replaced by four unitary authorities: the East Riding of Yorkshire, Kingston upon Hull, North Lincolnshire, and North East Lincolnshire.

Humberside

Region and former administrative county, eastern England. It extended along the North Sea coast from Flamborough Head south across the mouth of the River Humber. The Yorkshire Wolds, high rolling plains, rise from white chalk cliffs at Flamborough Head. Prehistoric peoples were followed by Roman settlements, Anglo-Saxons, and Scandinavians. The region's principal city is Kingston upon Hull.

a former county of N England around the Humber estuary, formed in 1974 from parts of the East and West Ridings of Yorkshire and N Lincolnshire: replaced in 1996 by the unitary authorities of East Riding of Yorkshire, Kingston upon Hull, North Lincolnshire, and North East Lincolnshire

Humberside 

a county in Great Britain, along both sides of the Humber Estuary. Population, 848,800 (1974). The port cities of Hull, Grimsby, and Immingham form an industrial complex, with petroleum-refining, petrochemical, and chemical industries. The county’s agriculture supplies a major part of the British market.

THE average household in Yorkshire and Humberside now pays out over pounds 17,000-a-year in bills - more than pounds 910,000 during the course of an average lifetime, a study revealed this week.
