Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area Location: On Peace Valley Road in Gorman, 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 55 miles south of Bakersfield. Facilities: Camping areas, picnic areas, restrooms (vault toilets), visitor center; drinking water is not available. Activities: Camping, ORV riding, hiking. Special Features: Recreation area features more than 130 miles of scenic trails for motorcycles, ATVs, dune buggies, and four-wheel drive vehicles, including a practice mini-track for beginning riders. A 60-acre preserve protects valley oaks and native bunchgrasses.
