Husnik, Jakub

Born 1837 in Vejprnze; died Mar. 26, 1916, in Prague. Czech scientist and inventor of photomechanical means of copying.

In 1868, Husnik developed one of the means of artistic reproduction—phototype. He is also known for his work in heliography, photolithography, and photozincography. He introduced, among other things, a reproduction emulsion of silver fluoride and a stereotype block consisting of layers of gelatine and iron chloride for letterpress printing.
