Hutton, Laurence

Hutton, Laurence (1843–1904) bibliophile, editor, writer; born in New York City. Left with a modest legacy, he devoted himself to amassing a fine rare book collection and writing on travel, the theater, and other congenial topics. He was literary editor of McClure's Magazine (1886–93) and a lecturer at Princeton University (1901–04).
