Hutyra, Ferenc
Born 1860, in Vienna; died 1934, in Budapest. Hungarian epizootiologist and microbiologist. Hutyra graduated from the higher school of veterinary science in Budapest, where he remained as an assistant professor (1883), professor (1888), and rector. He studied tuberculosis in animals, glanders, and hog cholera. With J. Marek, Hutyra wrote a major handbook in 1905 on the pathology and therapy of domestic animals. This was used as a textbook by several generations of veterinarians. (It was frequently translated and published in English, Italian, Spanish, Russian, and other languages.)
