Hybrid SACD

Also found in: Wikipedia 0.40 sec.

A combination CD/SACD disc, which is a music CD that contains all the titles in the standard CD audio (CD-DA) format on the top layer and the higher-fidelity SACD format on the bottom layer. Hybrid SACD discs became available in 2003. A combination CD/DVD-Audio disc is also available (see Flip Disc) that uses two sides rather than two layers, because DVD players look for the CD layer first. See SACD and DVD-Audio.

Unlike the DVDs on which movies are recorded, a hybrid SACD (which includes a conventional CD layer to play on standard equipment) is not symmetrical in the placement of the metal and plastic layers.
