Hyde Hall State Historic Site Location: On the shore of Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, NY. Facilities: Picnic area, historic house, visitor center, museum (é), scenic views (é), gift shop, biking trail, hiking trail, interpretive exhibits. Activities: Guided tours, hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing. Special Features: Believed to be the largest private home built in the U.S. during the time between the Revolutionary and Civil wars, this residence was built by George Clarke (1768-1835) in a style reminiscent of an English country estate.
