Hypatia of Alexandria

Born 370; died 415. Mathematician, astronomer, and Neoplatonic philosopher.

Hypatia taught in the museum of Alexandria. She is responsible for works interpreting the writings of Greek philosophers and works on mathematics and astronomy, none of which have been preserved. Hypatia fell victim to Christian religious fanaticism: Bishop Cyril instigated the mob that brutally murdered her.

Biggest disappointment Season-ending injuries: It was a shame seniors Leah Shelton of Valencia, Hypathia Runcie of Granada Hills and Jordan Stanley of Crescenta Valley of La Crescenta were forced into watching most or all of their final seasons from the sidelines.
Carol LeMasters' writings have appeared in The Bloomsbury Review, Feminism and Psychology, and Hypathia, among other publications.
Notes: A key for Granada Hills against El Camino Real of Woodland Hills in the City Section Championship final will be the continued solid play of junior goalkeeper Ashlee Allen, a former backup thrust into duty when standout senior Hypathia Runcie was lost for the season with a broken leg.
