IF stage (Intermediate Frequency stage) A common frequency that radio signals (radio, TV, cellphone, etc.) are converted to before the demodulation stage. It is easier to build a demodulator that works on only one frequency than all the carrier frequencies of the signals that travel in the air. For an FM radio example, see PLL. See RF stage.Want to thank TFD for its existence? Tell a friend about us, add a link to this page, add the site to iGoogle, or visit the webmaster's page for free fun content. |
