An immunoregulatory cytokine produced by a subset of helper T cells as well as by B lymphocytes and some cells of the uterus during pregnancy, it inhibits secretion (and function) of cytokine by macrophages and the second population of helper T cells called Th1. Abbreviated IL-10.
