iPod shuffle

Also found in: Wikipedia 0.06 sec.

iPod shuffle

The smallest and most basic iPod, and the only iPod without a display screen. Designed for people who just want to press start and play their tunes sequentially or at random, the shuffle holds up to 240 songs in 1GB of flash memory. Popular with runners and people on the go, the case clips directly onto a sleeve or pocket without an extra accessory.

The second generation shuffle (far right in image below) connects to the computer via a docking station. When the first shuffle came out in 2005, it looked like a white pack of chewing gum that plugged into the computer's USB port. See iPod.

The Shuffle is the Smallest

It Used to Plug Right In
Apple's first Shuffle (then spelled with a capital "S") plugged directly into a USB port on the computer. The next-generation model switched to a docking station.
