Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Acronyms, Hutchinson | 0.03 sec. |
IRQ(Interrupt ReQuest) A hardware interrupt on a PC. There are 16 IRQ lines used to signal the CPU that a peripheral event has started or terminated. Except for PCI devices, two devices cannot use the same line. If a new expansion board is preset to the IRQ used by an existing board, one of them must be changed. This was an enormous headache in earlier machines.

CNBC, the only member in the NBC family of channels showing anything live, is mired in a scoreless soccer game between IRQ and CRC (that's Iraq and Costa Rica, which you can't assume because they could be using the Greek alphabet). Standard Intel/Digital 21143 drivers can be used to configure the following hardware features for the adapter: 4-port mode, Fail-Safe Mode, Alternative Active Port Mode, or IRQ Routing Mode.
