Apple TV A digital media hub from Apple that connects to an HDTV set, enabling music, movies and photos to be streamed over a wired or wireless home network. Users can view content from their Mac or Windows computers running iTunes, view YouTube videos, as well as rent movies and TV programs from Apple and rent movies from Netflix. Apple's AirPlay feature lets users stream iPhone, iPad and iPod content directly to the TV.From Storage to Streaming Only Introduced in 2007 and running a version of the Mac OS, the first Apple TV had a hard disk and attached to the TV via HDMI and component video. In 2010, the unit was redesigned for streaming only, eliminating the hard disk and component video ports and requiring HDMI connectivity to the TV. See digital media hub, Internet TV and AirPlay.
