Iarkho, Arkadii Isaakovich 

Born Nov. 15 (28), 1903, in Moscow; died there May 4, 1935. Soviet anthropologist.

Iarkho graduated from the department of physics and mathematics at Moscow State University in 1923. He headed the race department of the State Museum of the Anthropological Institute of Moscow State University, where he became a professor in 1932. Iarkho’s principal works dealt with problems of race studies and human morphology. He studied the principles of racial analysis and investigated qualitative racial characteristics in man and the process of race formation. He also studied the miscegenation of various anthropological types and the anthropology of the peoples of the Altai. Iarkho contributed to the development of a unified procedure for anthropometric research.
