Ibague

Ibagué 

a city on the eastern slopes of the Cordillera Central in central Colombia; administrative center of Tolima Department. Population, 183,000 (1971). Highways and rail-roads connect the city with the airport in Girardot and with Bogota. Ibague is a trade center for an agricultural region which produces coffee, sugar, rice, and tobacco. Cattle are also bred in this region. There are food and tobacco industrial enterprises, and leather handicrafts are produced. Ibague is the site of a university.
