Ibn Asakir, Ali ibn Al-Hasan
Born 1105 in Damascus; died there Jan. 25, 1176. Arab historian. Ibn Asakir wrote the History of Damascus in 80 volumes. Consisting for the most part of biographies of the outstanding persons associated with Damascus, the work contains much valuable information on the history of the city and of Syria as a whole.
