Ibraimov, Sultan Ibraimovich 

Born Sept. 20, 1927, in the village of Alchalu, Chu Raion, Kirghiz SSR; died Dec. 4, 1980. Soviet state figure. Member of the CPSU from 1954.

The son of a peasant, Ibraimov became a kolkhoz worker in 1943; he subsequently became a tractor driver and hydraulic engineer. He graduated from the Tashkent Engineering Institute for Irrigation and the Mechanization of Agriculture in 1954 and joined the staff of the Institute of Water Use Management of the Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR.

In 1957, Ibraimov began party work. From 1961 to 1966 he served as minister of land reclamation and water use management of the Kirghiz SSR. From 1966 to 1968 he was secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kirghizia, and from 1968 to 1978 he was secretary of the Osh oblast committee of the party. Ibraimov became chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kirghiz SSR in 1978. He served as a deputy to the eighth through tenth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

Ibraimov was awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, two other orders, and various medals.
