The best trek we made was one of our first - Icehouse Canyon in the eastern stretches of the San Gabriel Mountains south of Mount Baldy Ski Area.
Icehouse Canyon in the Mount Baldy area, which affords ``all kinds of options,'' including loop trails and peak-bagging.
Using the low-lying Icehouse Canyon Trail and the higher Chapman Trail, the loop culminates at 7,600-foot Icehouse Saddle, a wide gap in the Telegraph-Ontario Ridge that marks the boundary between the Angeles and San Bernardino national forests.
