Ichinskaia Sopka

(Hoashen), the highest and only activevolcano in the Sredinnyi Range of Kamchatka, situated on therange’s first western chain. It has an altitude of 3, 621 m and iscomposed chiefly of andesite and dacite lava. The three peaks of the cone are covered with snow and glaciers the year round. Atan altitude of about 3, 000 m, there are active outflows of hotgases (fumaroles and solfataras). There are many minor domesand slag cones.
