national identity card
A personal identification card, which some countries require their citizens to carry. The U.S. and U.K. have debated the use of a smart card that contains biometrics such as iris or fingerprint data.

The website of 'skatteverket', the authority in charge of issuing ID cards in Sweden, clearly states that "passports from Romania, Cyprus and Bulgaria are not approved identity documents and may not be used to verify identity".
She describes a transformation of diaspora consciousness among the Tibetans giving up their stateless status and adopting US citizenship through an examination of Tibetan responses to the bureaucratic processes required to procure identity documents, travel documents, visas, asylum applications, citizenship ceremonies, and passports.
The contract for the production of Bulgaria's new identity documents was signed between the Interior Ministry and Germany's Siemens in April 2009, despite three companies who competed for the order contesting the selection of Siemens in front of Supreme Administrative Court (SAC).
