Iglesias

Iglesias (ēglā`zyäs), town (1991 pop. 30,134), SW Sardinia, Italy. The zinc and lead mines of the region have been famous since the 13th cent. The influence of Pisa, which controlled Iglesias in the Middle Ages, is apparent in the Romanesque cathedral (14th–15th cent.) and the medieval castle.
Iglesias 

a city in Italy, in the southwestern part of the island of Sardinia, in Cagliari Province. Population, 28,600 (1965). Iglesias is a mining center for lead-zinc, silver, and iron ores and for lignite. A foundry and tanning and furniture industries are there. The city has a mineralogical museum.

Iglesias has been the recipient of two Grammys, five World Music Awards and three American Music Awards.
BODRUM, Jul 26, 2009 (TUR) -- Worldwide famous Spanish singer Julio Iglesias gave a concert in Bodrum resort town of southwestern province of Mugla on Friday.
Working with a co-author, Iglesias here recounts his understanding of the scandal and describes how he and the other US Attorneys pieced together the motives for their group dismissal and how they responded as the scandal emerged onto the news broadcasts and into congressional hearings.
