a family of Soviet patriots. Active in the partisan movement in the Kuban’ during the Great Patriotic War (194145).

Petr Karpovich Ignatov. Born Sept. 29 (Oct. 11), 1894, in Shakhty. Engineer. Became a member of the CPSU in 1913.

In 1915, Ignatov was exiled to the Urals because of his revolutionary activity. He participated in the October Revolution and the Civil War. On the eve of the Great Patriotic War, he was the manager of a plant. He was a deputy to the second convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He is the author of the memoirs Notes of a Partisan (1944–47) and Our Sons (1958) and has been awarded the Order of Lenin.

Evgenii Petrovich Ignatov. Born Aug. 7 (20), 1915, in Nev’iansk; died Oct. 10, 1942, near the stanitsa (large cossack village) of Afipskaia, Krasnodar Krai. Engineer and designer. Hero of the Soviet Union (Mar. 7, 1943). Became a member of the CPSU in 1939.

Genii Petrovich Ignatov. Born Mar. 20, 1925, in Armavir; died Oct. 10, 1942, near Afipskaia. Student in the ninth grade of School No. 8 of Krasnodar. Hero of the Soviet Union (Mar. 7, 1943). Member of the All-Union Lenin Communist Youth League (VLKSM).

In August 1942, after the occupation of the Kuban’ by the fascist German troops, P. K. Ignatov created a partisan detachment on the instruction of party bodies. His entire family joined: his sons Evgenii and Genii and his wife, Elena Ivanovna (a nurse). The detachment carried out 26 combat operations, derailed four troop trains, and destroyed seven bridges. On the night of Oct. 10, 1942, while engaged in sabotage on the Krasnodar-Novorossiisk railroad (22 km from Krasnodar), E. P. and G. P. Iganatov died while blowing up an enemy troop train. They were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
