Igor Netto

Netto, Igor’ Aleksandrovich 

Born Jan. 9, 1930, in Moscow. Soviet athlete; Honored Master of Sports (1954); soccer coach. Member of the CPSU since 1966.

Netto was repeatedly champion of the USSR (five times between 1952 and 1962 as a member of the Moscow Spartak team, halfback). From 1952 to 1963 he was a member of the USSR national team and was its captain when it won the 1956 Olympic tournament at Melbourne and the European Cup in 1960 in Paris. He has been awarded the Order of Lenin.
