Ijma
(Arabic, “consensus”), in Sunni Islam, a consensus of the experts of the sharia on individual religious, legal, and everyday questions, the answer to which can not be based on the Koran and the Sunna. Ijma became one of the four foundations (roots) of the Muslim system of law. The canonical text of the Koran, the collections of the hadiths, and a number of dogmas and festivals were confirmed by means of consensus. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
