Ikramov, Iskandar Ikramovich 

Born Apr. 15, 1904, in Tashkent. Soviet graphic artist; People’s Artist of the Uzbek SSR (1944). Member of the CPSU since 1959.

Ikramov graduated from the Leningrad Industrial Arts Tech-nicum (1929). He uses national Uzbek decorative motifs in designing books (Uzbek classical and Soviet literature and music and technical texts). He designed The Canon of Medical Science by ibn Sina (book 1, published in 1954), Uzbek National Music (vol. 1, 1955), Selected Worksby Kadyri (1958), and Aphorisms (1968) and Works by Navoi (1968–70). Ikramov has been awarded two orders and several medals.
