Iligan (ēlē`gän), city (1990 pop. 226,568), capital of Lanao del Norte prov., W central Mindanao, the Philippines, a port on Iligan Bay. It is the center of a rapidly growing heavy-industry complex, powered by hydroelectricity from the Maria Cristina Falls plant on the Agus River. The nation's first steel mill was established there in 1964. The city also has steel, chemical, and fertilizer plants.
