Il’in, Iakov Naumovich
Born Oct. 10 (23), 1905, in Kiev; died Dec. 20, 1932, in Moscow. Soviet Russian writer. Il’in became a member of the CPSU in 1924, He worked on Komsomol’skaia Pravda and Pravda. A series of articles by Il’in were in the collection Young Communist Leaguer, To the Tractor? (1925). Responding to M. Gorky’s call for histories of Soviet factories and plants, Il’in headed the group that wrote the collection People of the Stalingrad Tractor Plant (1933). Il’in’s novel The Great Conveyor (published 1934) was one of the first books about the initial stage of industrialization in the USSR. WORKSShestoe chuvstvo. [Afterword by G.
