Illustrated Manuscripts 

manuscript books containing miniatures. The term “illustrated manuscripts” is used to distinguish them from manuscripts that completely lack illustrations or have only headpieces and decorated initials. In foreign classification of manuscripts, illustrated manuscripts are included under the broader category of “illuminated manuscripts” (manuscripts with any kind of ornamentation).
