barrel distortion
A screen distortion in which the sides bow out. Contrast with pincushioning.
barrel distortion [′bar·əl dis′tȯr·shən]
(optics)
A defect in an optical system whereby lateral magnification decreases with object size; the image of a square then appears barrel-shaped.
