Imbau, Fred E. (1909– ) criminologist, scholar; born in New Orleans, La. A noted criminal law researcher and trainer of police legal advisers, he taught longest at Northwestern University School of Law (1945–77). Named professor emeritus at Northwestern, he founded Americans for Effective Law Enforcement, a national organization to improve crime-fighting efforts. He coauthored dozens of books, including a widely used casebook on both criminal law and procedure, and books on criminal law and evidence for police and laypeople. |
