c. 2600 bc, Egyptian physician and architect. After his death he was worshipped as a god; the Greeks identified him with Asclepius

Imhotep

History’s first named architect, and counselor to King Zoser of Egypt. He created the huge funerary complex at Saqqara; it’s stepped pyramid design, and sophisticated stonework and use of columns, set the pattern for Egyptian monuments for 2,500 years.
