Indalsälven
a river in central Sweden. Length, 420 km; basin area, 26,700 sq km. It begins near the Norwegian border and flows through Lakes Storsjön and Cesunden, emptying into the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea. A narrow valley, a channel filled with rapids, and waterfalls are characteristic of the entire course of the river. The Indalsälven is fed by snow and rain. The high-water period occurs in May and June. The average annual flow rate of water is approximately 460 cu m per sec.
