Indian Springs State Park Location: 4 miles southeast of Jackson on GA 42. Facilities: 88 tent/trailer/RV campsites, pioneer campground, 10 cottages, group camp, 7 picnic shelters, group shelter, nature trail, 105-acre lake and swimming beach, boat ramp, docks, pedal boat rentals, museum, miniature golf course. Activities: Camping, boating (10 HP limit), fishing, swimming, miniature golf. Special Features: Indian Springs is thought to be the oldest state park in the United States -- it was acquired by the state in 1825 and became an official "State Forest Park" in 1927. A museum at the park highlights the Creek Indians, who used the springs for centuries to heal the sick, as well as the park's resort history in the 1800s and the structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression.
