Indraprastha

Indraprastha 

(also Indrapat), an ancient Indian city that existed on the site of present-day Delhi from the beginning of the first millennium B.C. According to the Mahabharata, the city was founded by the Pandava brothers of the Kuru royal family. Around A.D. 500 the city fell into decay. During the Middle Ages, Indrapat was a suburb of Delhi. Excavations are being conducted at the site.
