Industrial Center
a city that is a center of one or several branches of industry, often performing transportation functions as well. Centers of the extractive industry generally have a more restricted range of activities than centers of the manufacturing industry because the production specialization of the former is conditioned on the use of a limited range of natural resources. In the USSR and other socialist countries, industrial centers are formed during area planning of the development of productive forces. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
