Ingersoll, Royal

Ingersoll, Royal (Eason) (1883–1976) naval officer; born in Washington, D.C. He was the communications officer for the U.S. delegation to the Versailles Peace Conference (1918–19). He was commander of the Atlantic Fleet (1942–44), and the landings in North Africa (1942) were carried out under his general authority.
