Ingression 

the penetration of low-lying coastal land by seawater when the sea level rises or the shore submerges. Ingres-sive shores, characterized by broken coastlines, form as a result of ingression. Depending on the origin of the low-lying areas, the shores are classified as glacial, fluvial, eolian, and structuraldenudational.
