Apple, which is in the midst of a historic shift to Intel chips, last month introduced its first Intel-based desktop computer, the iMac G5, about six months ahead of schedule. Today, high-performance 32-bit Intel chips (Xeon and the Pentium 4) hold their own against RISC/Unix workstations. Over the next several years, the company indicated, such radios will be integrated into Intel chips, enabling any device powered by one of those chips to have wireless radio communication capabilities. |
