DOI(Digital Object Identifier) A method of applying a persistent name to documents, publications and other resources on the Internet rather than using a URL, which can change over time. DOI uses the Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI) Handle System technology, which uses a naming system and naming servers to keep track of the location of the resources. To fully implement the system, a browser plug-in is required that will resolve the handle used on a Web page that identifies the resource. Otherwise, a proxy server is required. A study released by the Interior Department and made public by the Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility says that the National Parks System generated $10. Bob Faithful, director of the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization at the Department of the Interior, joined with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce on June 8 to sign a historic "memorandum of understanding" that will help lesbian-, gay-, bisexual-, and transgender-owned businesses get a piece of the more than $4 billion in contracts the Interior Department awards every year. Interior Department officials have yet to announce whether they will appeal the decision. |
