internal memory Typically refers to main memory (RAM), but may also refer to ROM and flash memory. In either case, internal memory generally refers to chips rather than disks or tapes. Some vendors call their disk drives "memory products," which only adds to the confusion. In this encyclopedia, "memory" always refers to RAM, the internal workspace of the computer, which loses its content when power is turned off (at least until MRAM, phase change memory or some other non-volatile technology reigns supreme). "Storage" refers to disks and tapes. See future memory chips.internal memory [in′tərn·əl ′mem·rē] (computer science) Want to thank TFD for its existence?
