A manufacturer or organization that receives a contract from a prime contractor for a portion of the work on a project.

Subcontractor

A specialized building contractor; typically works for the general contractor performing work in a particular trade, such as electrical, masonry, or millwork.

subcontractor

A person or organization who has a direct contract with a prime contractor to perform a portion of the work at the site.

subcontractor

An individual or organization that is hired by a contractor to do all or some part of the work for another party. For example, a project given to a contractor may be delegated by the contractor to numerous subcontractors. See contractor.
