Ionescu-şişeşti, Gheorghe. 

Born Oct. 16, 1885, in |i-sesti; died June 4, 1967, in Bucharest. Rumanian scientist and agronomist. Honored Scientist of the Socialist Republic of Rumania (1962) and a member of the Academy of Sciences of the SRR (1936).

Ionescu-şişeşti was vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of the SRR from 1959 to 1963 and was a corresponding member of the Lenin All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences (1957). He was a professor at the Agronomy Institute in Bucharest (1920–58) and the founder and head of the Scientific Research Institute of Agronomy (1928–48). He engaged in soil research in Rumania. Ionescu-§i$e§ti made a significant contribution to the study of plant breeding and farming methods for agricultural crops. He developed the A-15 wheat variety. Iones-cu-şişeş, ti was awarded the State Prize of the SRR in 1958.
