IRIX

A Unix-based operating system from SGI that is used in its computer systems from desktop to supercomputer. It is an enhanced version of Unix System V Release 4. IRIX integrates the X Window system with OpenGL, creating the first real-time 3D X environment.

IRIX - /ir'iks/ The main operating system used by Silicon Graphics workstations and servers. IRIX is multiprocessor and multi-threaded. It incorporates substantial functionality from UNIX System V, Release 4.1 and 4.2.
