Irwin, Will (William Henry) (1873–1948) journalist; born in Oneida, N.Y. An outstanding reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, the New York Sun, and McClure's Magazine (1901–07), he won renown for his knowledgeable coverage of the San Francisco earthquake (1906). Later a World War I correspondent for the Saturday Evening Post, he also wrote fiction, biography, and other works. How to thank TFD for its existence?
