Isachenkov, Nikolai

Isachenkov, Nikolai Vasil’evich 

Born Dec. 6 (19), 1902, in Iartsevo, in present-day Smolensk Oblast; died Nov. 4, 1969, in Moscow. Soviet naval figure; engineer-admiral (1954). Member of the CPSU (1927).

Isachenkov joined the navy in 1923. In 1928 he graduated from the F. E. Dzerzhinskii Higher Naval Engineering School and then served in the Black Sea Fleet. An official of the Shipbuilding Administration of the Navy from 1936 to 1940, Isachenkov was appointed its chief in June 1940. He became head of the Main Shipbuilding Administration of the Navy in 1945 and was the navy’s deputy chief commander of shipbuilding and armaments from 1952 to 1965. He retired in February 1966 for reasons of health. Isachenkov was awarded two Orders of Lenin, three Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of Nakhimov First Class, the Order of the Patriotic War First Class, the Order of the Red Star, the Badge of Honor, and various medals.
