Penguin Computing has announced that it will launch servers and systems based on 64-bit Intel Itanium 2 processors in Q2 2004. The Unisys Enterprise Server ES7000 demonstrated the record-setting power of the Intel Itanium 2 processor recently, delivering the first Itanium 2-based system performance results ever published with the TPC-H benchmark. The Solution Center Network, a collaborative network of global centers to facilitate the remote porting and optimization of applications to the Intel Itanium 2 processor, aligns well with Gelato's Coconut and Vanilla projects, which provide access to Itanium-based hardware and guidance on porting and tuning Linux Itanium open-source applications. |
