Guzhon, Iulii Petrovich
Born 1854 or 1858; died 1918. Russian industrialist. By nationality a Frenchman. In the beginning of the 1880’s. Guzhon became the largest shareholder of the Partnership of Silk Manufacture (Moscow), the Partnership of the Moscow Metallurgical Factory (the present-day Serp i Molot Moscow Metallurgical Factory), and other enterprises. Guzhon was a member of the Standing Advisory Bureau of Iron-Factory Owners, the Moscow Stock-Exchange Committee, the Council of Congresses of Representatives of Commerce and Industry, and the Moscow Military Industrial Committee. As a very influential industrialist, and especially as the permanent (1907–17) president of the Moscow Society of Factory Owners and Manufacturers, which united entrepreneurs from a significant part of Central Russia, Guzhon made speeches and published articles and brochures that protected the interests of the big industrial bourgeoisie.
