Iusupov, Akram Mamedovich 

Born May 1, 1905, in the village of Kuva, Andizhan Oblast; died Nov. 26, 1975, in Tashkent. Soviet circus performer. People’s Artist of the Uzbek SSR (1961).

Iusupov performed as a trick rider, vaulter, and acrobat. He was especially successful as a comic ropewalker in the act of the Tashkenbaev Ropewalkers from 1942 to 1951 and 1963 to 1973. He also appeared as a carpet clown, in a two-man team with K. A. Berman and B. P. Viatkin and from 1959 to 1963 in the Seven Jolly Fellows. A modern-day Khodzha Nasreddin, he masterfully used the best traditions of the maskharabozy (Uzbek folk comics).

Iusupov was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and several medals.
