Ivan Andronnikov

Andronnikov, Ivan Malkhazovich 

(also Andronikashvili). Born 1798; died January 1869. Prince, Russian general in the cavalry (1868), grandson (on his mother’s side) of the Imeretian king Solomon II.

Andronnikov was a participant in the Russo-Iranian War of 1826–28, the Russo-Turkish War of 1828–29, and the Caucasus wars of the 19th century. From 1849 to 1856 he was the military governor of Tiflis. During the Crimean War of 1853–56 troops under Andronnikov’s command gained victories over the Turks at Akhaltsikhe (1853) and on the Chorokh River (1854).
