Šubašić, Ivan
Born May 27,1892, in Vukova Gorica, Karlo-vac; died Mar. 22, 1955, in Zagreb. Yugoslav political and state figure. A lawyer by education. Šubašić was one of the leaders of the Croatian Peasant Party. From 1939 to 1941 he was ban (chief executive) of the banovina of Croatia, in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia; he emigrated from Yugoslavia in April 1941. From June 1944 to March 1945, Šubašić was premier of the Yugoslav government in exile. He signed the Tito-Šubašić agreements of 1944, and from March to November 1945 he was minister of foreign affairs in the Provisional Government of Democratic Federal Yugoslavia.
